GLP-1 therapy is an effective treatment for obesity. In America, approximately 42% of adults have obesity, and more than one in ten adults have severe obesity. This translates to roughly 100 million adults with obesity and over 22 million with severe obesity. In the United States it is an epidemic. Obesity is linked to numerous chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. Vitamin B12
At HavenRx we feel that vitamin B12 is important and clinically relevant for patients that are treated with GLP-1 agents due to the known decreased vitamin B12 absorption with patients on GLP-1 therapy.
However, we also feel that not much is needed. We are not treating a deficiency we are preventing one. Therefore, our GLP-1 compounded injections will contain Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) to prevent deficiency.
